Our Story

When Judy and her young family moved to Breezy Acres, they already had deep roots in Anderson Township. The property was named after the old State Road farm where Judy grew up which was owned by her grandmother Sarah Ayer’s family and later her dad, Bennett Behymer.

When the family moved to Breezy Acres in 1969, the barn had stalls left over from its time as a horse farm in the 1950s where local kids would ride. The previous owner had a kennel, and at the suggestion of a veterinarian friend who attended her church (and knew how much Judy loved animals), Breezy Acres Kennels was born.

Judy is still actively engaged in the business along with her son Wes and his family. Many improvements and additions have been made over the years, and the kennels are now comprised of 48 indoor and outdoor runs located between the farmhouse and the barn.

Our Values

  • Family-Owned & Operated

Breezy Acres is not just our business, it’s our home. We live on the property and take care of the dogs who board here as if they were our own. Our employees have been with us for years (as have many of our customers), and we get to know the individual personalities and needs of each dog better with each visit.

  • Simple & Good

We believe in keeping things simple and good, and our services and facilities reflect that. Our kennels are clean, spacious and well-ventilated, with plenty of natural light. Hikes and walks allow for exploration of the property’s wooded trails and grassy meadows. We feed the food of your choice and administer medications at no extra charge.

  • Local & Community-Minded

We are proud members of our community. Judy graduated from Anderson High School and is active in theater and her church. Wes is a Turpin grad and can frequently be seen volunteering at Forest Hills events. We rarely miss a marching band event and love to host parties in our barn.

Breezy Acres is welcoming to all and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, or gender expression.
